Job Description:
The Electrical Assistant supports the maintenance and operations teams by assisting in electrical installations, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities within the factory environment. The role helps ensure safe and efficient operation of electrical systems and production machinery to minimize downtime and support continuous production operations in tobacco processing facilities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, machinery, and production lines.
- Support troubleshooting of electrical faults in tobacco processing machines and factory equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and checks on wiring, control panels, motors, sensors, and electrical connections.
- Assist with assembly, fitting, and installation of electrical components in machinery.
- Ensure proper cable management and secure electrical connections according to safety standards.
- Replace faulty electrical components under the supervision of senior technicians.
- Support preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities and assist in reporting equipment breakdowns.
- Cooperate and coordinate with maintenance staff, production teams, and supervisors during maintenance work.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and in good working condition.
- Assist in ensuring smooth functioning of electrical systems to support uninterrupted production operations.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Follow company safety procedures, electrical safety standards, and maintenance regulations.
- Ensure safe working practices during electrical maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Use appropriate PPE and comply with lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions, hazards, or electrical faults immediately to supervisors.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas in accordance with housekeeping and GMP standards.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree, ITI, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical trade.
- Electrical trade certification is an added advantage.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Electrical Assistant / Electrical Fitter in industrial manufacturing environments.
- Experience in tobacco processing, FMCG, food processing, or industrial plants is preferred.
- Functional knowledge of industrial electrical systems and maintenance practices.
Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of industrial electrical systems and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
- Experience operating hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and fault-testing devices.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to electrical systems.
- Familiarity with motors, control panels, sensors, and industrial electrical installations.
- Understanding of electrical safety procedures and preventive maintenance practices.
People Management:
- Maintain good communication and coordination with other technicians and maintenance staff.
- Support teamwork and collaborative working relationships within the department.
- Prepare and submit daily activity reports to the Line Manager.
- Assist supervisors and senior technicians during maintenance and shutdown activities.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Remain proactive during shifts and ensure no hazards exist within the electrical maintenance area.
- Ensure machines and electrical systems are functioning properly and operating safely.
- Plan, organize, and complete assigned maintenance tasks within deadlines.
- Comply with company procedures, electrical safety standards, and operational requirements.
